Prevention through Technology, NOT Eradication
At the Association for Human-Wildlife Coexistence, our position is clear:
violence is not the answer. Shooting bears does not solve the long-term problem,
and leaving frightened communities unprotected against attacks is unacceptable.
We focus on smart solutions that protect both sides.
○ Protecting People and Livelihoods: Every individual has the right to walk
safely on the streets. Every farmer has the right to know their barns,
beehives, and properties are secure.
○ Saving Bears from Being Shot: A bear that repeatedly enters villages
almost always ends up being shot. By deploying electric fences and
leveraging early warnings, we condition bears to stay in the wild. A bear
kept away from human communities is a bear saved from a bullet.
